SUPPORTING THE EVENT

What is the date and time of the event? 
Friday, November 15th, 2024 from 2 - 4 p.m. We will fundraise leading up to the event.

Do I need to join the walk to participate? 
If you are unable to walk with us that is not a problem, please participate by fundraising leading up to the Walk & Rally and you are invited to attend the reception portion of the event at TAY Academy, where we will share information on our live-changing programs we provide here at San Diego Youth Services. 

What if I only want to attend the reception after the walk?
We would love to have you at the reception! Doors open at 2:30 p.m., reception begins around 3 p.m. when the walk & rally participants arrive at TAY Academy.

How do I register?

Why should I participate? 
Your help is crucial! On any given night in San Diego County, more than 1,800 youth have nowhere to sleep. We are standing in solidarity with youth experiencing homelessness to make sure no more youth are without a safe roof over their head and a place to call home. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, our community is showing up to help vulnerable youth. (Also, every participant gets a t-shirt!)

Is there a cost or fundraising minimum to register?
There is no cost to register and no fundraising minimum. Suggested goal: $100 per person and $500 per team. Everyone gets a t-shirt regardless of fundraising.

How do I create a team/individual fundraising page? 
Please check out our Fundraising Page Set Up Instructions for more information on how to set up your team and/or individual fundraising pages.

How do I fundraise for my team? 
Reach out to friends, family and colleagues starting today! Tell them why the issue is important to you and why you are making this choice to get involved. If you need ideas, use our customizable emails or shareable social media graphics/text.

How old do you need to be to participate in the Walk & Rally? 
All ages are welcome, but we ask if you are under 18 you be accompanied by an adult. 

EVENT SCHEDULE

What is the November 15th event timeline?
2:00 p.m. Meet at City Hall (202 C Street) for opening remarks.
2:15 p.m. Participants walk from City Hall to TAY Academy
3:00 p.m. Arrive at TAY Academy (2220 Broadway) for light refreshments, program and youth speakers 
4:00 p.m. Event Ends

Where do we walk?

What do I bring to participate in the Walk & Rally? 
Yourself and any friends or family who would like to walk with you. Please wear walking shoes and you may bring a sign to use along the walk to bring awareness to youth homelessness.

What does the reception include? 
After the walk portion of the afternoon, we arrive at TAY Academy to enjoy light refreshments, connect with other participants, hear from SDYS staff and youth speakers.
